    Transferred to Scarlet Flight, Second Airlift Platoon, 189th Assault Helicopter Company, Camp Holloway, Pleiku, RVN.

    6 October 1967

    Damaged.
    While being flown by Capt. Eustice Shiver and 1st LT. Charles Craig along the Ho Chi Min Trail, Kingdom Of Laos, the Ghost Rider Aircraft 171 was severely damaged by North Vietnamese Army heavy weapon fire that wounded Capt. Shiver and killed a Special Forces Sergeant with the LRRP team being inserted.

    Cpt Eustice Shiver reports: I was reunited with 171 when I traveled to Camp Douglas, Wisconsin, from Milton, Florida, to see the aircraft I flew in Vietnam and the one I never stopped thinking about.
