    Constructed as a P-40K-1-CU by Curtiss at Buffalo, NY.

    Circa 1942

    Taken on Strength/Charge with the United States Army Air Force with s/n 42-45722.

    Converted to a XP-40Q.

    To unknown owner with c/r N300B.

    From 30 August 1946 to 2 September 1946

    Raced as #82.
    Appeared at the National Air Races Cleveland to compete in the Thompson R class, but did not qualify. The primary pilot was Joe Ziegler.

    Notes: Jean Skip Ziegler flew this XP-40Q in the 1947 Thompson Trophy. He ended having to bale out of the airplane during the Thompson. He suffered a broken leg and a destroyed airplane.

    This was the only P-40Q built. Appeared at the National Air Races Cleveland to compete in the Thompson R class, but did not qualify. The primary pilot was Jean L Ziegler. Started the B Feature race, but did not finish. Bailed out on the 14th lap when the engine quit. Mr. Ziegler was injured.

    Destroyed in a crash.
    Crashed during 1947 Thompson Trophy Race at Cleveland, OH due to engine failure. - Pilot bailed out.

    26 November 1947

    Civil registration, N300B, cancelled.

    By 4 September 1948

    To unknown owner with c/r N300B.

    From 4 September 1948 to 6 September 1948

    Raced as #82.
    Competed at the National Air Races Cleveland in the Thompson Trophy race. The primary pilot was Jean L Ziegler. No time was recorded and finished in 18th place. Left the race on the 13th lap.
