    Constructed as a F-4C-19-MC by at Saint Louis, Missouri, USA.

    First flight.

    22 July 1964

    Taken on Strength/Charge with the United States Air Force with s/n 63-7551.

    Circa July 1964

    To 45th TFS, 15th TFW, MacDill, FL.
    Markings added: FJ-551

    4 April 1965

    Departed MacDill AFB for Ubon RTAFB, Thailand, under TWO BUCK TWO movement.

    7 April 1965

    Transferred to 45th TFS, 2nd Air Division, Ubon RTAFB, Thailand.
    Operated with markings: FJ-551
    Among the first USAF Phantoms to see combat while on a temporary duty attachment to the 2nd Air Division.

    24 July 1965

    Damaged.
    F-4C 63-7551 was one of four aircraft in LEOPARD flight tasked on a July 24, 1965, MIGCAP mission for an F-105 strike on Lang Chi, North Vietnam. While orbiting near the target, an SA-2 SAM was launched and exploded under LEOPARD 02 (63-7599), which became the first loss to a SAM during the conflict. The same explosion also badly damaged 63-7551 but made it back to Thailand.

    To Clark AB, Philippines.
    Sent for repairs.

    29 December 1965

    Written off.
    Damage from SAM deemed too exstensive to warrant repairs. W/o at Clark AB, Philippines.

    After 29 December 1965

    Airframe was stripped for useful parts and shipped back to the USA. After some work, 63-7551 was patched together and put to further use for munitions trainer at Lowry AFB.

    From Circa 1966 to After July 1992

    To Lowry AFB, CO.
    Used for munitions training at Lowry AFB.

    To National Museum of the United States Air Force Loan Program, Wright Field, Dayton, OH.

    Placed on display with Col Leo Sidney Boston War Memorial Park, Fremont County Airport, Canon City, CO.

    Given the XN tailmarkings of the 559th TFS, 12th TFW at Cam Ranh Bay, RVN. It is part of the 12th TFW memorial.
