    Constructed as a YHU-1D-BF by Bell at Fort Worth, Texas, USA.

    1961

    Taken on Strength/Charge with the United States Army with s/n 60-6030.

    Used by the Army to test various armament configurations.

    18 September 1962

    Redesignated as YUH-1D.

    1965

    Loaned to Bell Helicopters.
    Bell bailed or borrowed this aircraft for test purposes.

    1965

    Converted to a 208.
    Bell installed two Continental T72-T-2 turboshaft engines in a module driving a common gearbox and called it the Model 208. Totally funded by Bell, it proved the concept of dual engines in the 205 airframe. But the Model 208 was not pursued. Certified by FAA as model 208, first flying in that configuration on 29 April 1965.(Aero-Web).

    Circa 1966

    Converted to a YUH-1D.
    Returned to its original configuration and returned to the Army.

    Circa 1966

    Returned from loan to United States Army.

    By December 1982

    To United States Army Aviation Museum, Fort Rucker, Enterprise, AL.
