    Constructed as a C-141A-10-LM by Lockheed at Marietta, GA, USA.
    First operational C-141A for the USAF.

    23 April 1965

    Taken on Strength/Charge with the United States Air Force with s/n 63-8088.

    23 April 1965

    To 44th Air Transport Squadron, 1501st Air Transport Wing, Travis AFB, CA.
    First operational C141 assigned to Travis and the USAF.

    6 January 1966

    Transferred to 60th Military Airlift Wing, Travis AFB, CA.
    Operated with markings: Golden Bear

    First C-141 to fly into Saigon.

    First C-141 to carry wounded troops from Vietnam to the United States.

    Circa 1973

    Helped fly the 566 military and 25 civilian former prisoners of war from North Vietnam to the US.

    Converted to a C-141B.

    By August 1994

    Transferred to 97th AMW, Altus AFB, OK.
    Operated with markings: City of Altus, Crossing the Red

    To National Museum of the United States Air Force Loan Program, Wright Field, Dayton, OH.
